Department for Work and Pensions

New guidance on volunteering for welfare benefits claimants has been published by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). It has been co-designed with people that have experience of claiming benefits and volunteering: to be clear, simple and concise.

People can volunteer for as many hours as they want and still claim benefits if:

  • the only money you get from volunteering is to cover expenses (like travel costs)
  • you continue to meet the conditions of the benefit you get.

More information and a link to the new guidance is available on the Volunteer Glasgow website.
